Windows 10 Start Button, Cortana, Search, and Taskbar not working (3 Possible Solutions)

Restart Windows Explorer. Press Windows Key+ X Key on your keyboard. OR press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Open Task Manager. Select Windows Explorer. You can tab W key repeatedly to find it. Click on RESTART at the bottom.

If windows explorer is missing in task manager. Clik on file (top menu) and click on Run new task. type explorer.exe and check to enable Create the task with administrative privileges. click Ok

Press Windows Key+X Key on your keyboard. Open “Command Prompt Admin”. You should chose “Admin”, not the mere Command Prompt. Type the following command or copy paste it.The command starts with letter and ends with it. Don’t copy the blank space!

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Right click to paste the command and hit Enter key to run the command. Now copy the following command. Right click to paste and hit enter key to run it. (Please don’t copy the blank space before and after the command)

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like “*SystemApps*”} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”}

A small pop-up will appear displaying “deployment operation Progress…”. paste the next command when it disappears. Normally it takes 2-3 minutes. Sometimes it may take longer.

Now copy the following command. Right click to paste and hit enter key to run it. (Please don’t copy the blank space before and after the command)

$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + ‘AppxManifest.xml’ ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest

A small pop-up will appear displaying “deployment operation Progress…”. When the pop-up disappears, RESTART may be required to apply the changes you have made! Long press the power button to shut it down. Then press it again to turn it ON.
